Our Story
A Place for Young Minds to Embrace Nepalese Heritage
In the 2025 AGM, a new team brought fresh energy and ideas, with Rabin Neupane stepping into the role of President. Under his leadership, Pathashala is thriving and striving to reach the next level—building on its strong foundation to further empower students, engage families, and strengthen its impact within the community.
In 2023, Pathashala Australia officially registered as a separate not-for-profit organization, giving it its own identity. This marked a significant milestone in our journey and laid the foundation for continued growth.
Under the leadership of President Prakash Bastakoti, Pathashala Australia took a more defined shape and successfully expanded its presence to four additional branches—Penshurst, Maitland, Central Coast, and Tamworth.
The organization also developed its own curriculum materials and, through various government grants, secured essential audio and visual technology systems. With this strengthened structure and resources, we are now better positioned to broaden our services, deliver innovative programs, and most importantly, serve the diverse needs of our community.
In 2022, Pathashala made the pivotal decision to operate as an independent entity while continuing to maintain EDBNC as a guardian organization. This allowed us to expand our scope and reach a larger community, ensuring that Nepalese language, arts, and culture are accessible to more children.
Pathashala Australia was initiated by the Edmondson Park Bardia Nepalese Community (EDBNC) in 2019, born out of a shared vision to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Nepal and pass it down to the younger generation of Nepalese Australians. What began as a small initiative, operating out of a private home, quickly blossomed into a dynamic language and cultural school that has touched the lives of many children.
Our Commitment
Pathashala Australia is driven by a commitment to the younger generation of Nepalese Australians, providing them with a platform to develop their cultural identity while excelling in their educational journey. Through our dedicated team of teachers, volunteers, and community members, we continue to work towards our goal of nurturing well-rounded personalities that celebrate both their Nepalese and Australian heritage.
Current Executive Committee
Our leadership team comprises passionate individuals committed to shaping the future of our community through education. The Executive Committee works tirelessly to oversee the operations and ensure Pathashala’s mission is being realized across all campuses.
